This nationally recognised course deals with the skills and knowledge required to satisfy the requirements for responsible service of alcohol under State/Territory legislation. All bar and waiting staff undertaking training as part of a National Certificate in the service of alcohol must complete this module.

All elements are undertaken in accordance with legal provisions of the relevant liquor legislation. Evidence of competence includes demonstrated knowledge of legislation as detailed throughout the course. This course also includes knowledge of the underpinning reasons for and benefits of responsible service of alcohol reforms.

Topics covered include:

  • Identify customers to whom service may be refused
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic beverages responsibly
  • Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
  • Assist alcohol affected customers

This course applies to all enterprises where alcoholic beverages are served. It is a compulsory course for all staff serving alcoholic beverages. This course is also recommended by major airlines for applicants who want to work as flight attendants. The course content explains how the principles can be applied in different workplaces and circumstances.
