This nationally recognised course is designed to give tudents the skills that are necessary to gain mployment in hotel front office, reservations, reception and concierge department.
Introductory module
Including a broad overview of the hospitality
industry, occupational health, safety and security procedures, inter-personal skills, occupational hygiene and customer relations.
Computerised reservations procedure
Including learning to operate the most commonly used systems worldwide, such as LanSoft, LANmark, Fidelio and V3 Travel System. After learning these systems, students will be able to confidently operate
all hotel computer reservations systems.
Provide accommodation reception procedures
Including welcoming guests, allocation of rooms, guest arrival and departure lists, compiling individual and group reports, and statistics used in the front office, customer relations and handling complaints.
Guest Departures
Including recording of payments and farewelling guests.
Basic/Advanced accounting
Including bookkeeping procedures, trial balances, invoices and transfers to ledgers.
Basic/Advanced cashiering
Including operation posting transactions,
interdepartmental vouchers, cash, credit and charge procedures, general banking procedures.
Clerical Administration
Including handling guest mail, business
correspondence, filing and operation of fax and photocopier.
Telephone service and techniques
Including use of multiline switchboard, transferring and recording calls, using paging system, telephone courtesy, procedures and emergency procedures.
Night auditing
Including processing and balancing accommodation and other charges, guest ledger and city ledgers, closing procedures and occupancy forecasts.
Provide housekeeping services to guests
Including guest room inspections, housekeeping equipment, room supplies, lost and found and maintenance.
Provide porter services
Including guest arrival and departure reports and concierge duties.
Training
Including coach others in job skills.

Dress Code
In the service industry, high standards of personal hygiene and presentation are required at all times. There is no uniform for students attending theory classes.
